The Boone Boys History
25 Years of Rock and Roll!
The
Boone Boys, a five member group from Poplar Grove, IL in Northern Boone County, entertained the Illinois / Wisconsin state line area with classic
rock & blues variety music from 1981 to 2007.
As early high school classmates the
Brown and Anderson brothers soon discovered a mutual interest in music.
Randy and Jeff Brown were playing guitar
and bass and needed a drummer and piano player. Ron and Dan Anderson fit the
bill to a T. They took top prize at a local talent contest and began
applying their Barber Shop harmonies to classic 50's oldies and songs you love.
It wasn't long before they were working with acts like Ricky Nelson and
Beatlmania.
After
performing for eight years as a four piece band the members realized to take the
next step the group needed another musician to play lead guitar. After an
exhaustive search and endless audition sessions, The Boone Boys found their lead
guitar player with Dan Ege of Dixon. Dan's ability to play many styles of music
was just what the band needed to venture into some more difficult material like
Lynyrd Skynyrd
and The Eagles.
With over 90 years of combined professional experience, The Boone Boys
were not
just musicians but entertainers who energized audiences with everything from
soaring ballads from the sock hop era to “in your face” arena rock.
This band rarely had the crowd staying in their seats for long.
From regional festivals and county fairs, to weddings, honky-tonks and
fundraising events, The Boone Boys have
done it all and won fans everywhere they went.
